More than 4,000 members belong to the MMA and trust the organization to represent their best interests. Membership is open to all practicing and retired Maine physicians, including MDs and DOs, medical students, and residents. The MMA offers legal assistance to members for a range of medical-legal issues, such as employment law and credentialing, licensing and disciplinary actions, peer review activities, and practice management matters (consent to treatment, health information privacy, and aspects of the physician-patient relationship).
